Bio
George Fellner developed his
passion for photography while studying architecture and design.
Consequently, sensitivities for the design process helped to formulate his
photographic skills. During the early years as an intern, he performed
architectural photography services for local architects and builders.
However, as George pursued a career practicing architecture, the photography of
buildings centered on his own
projects. Thus, the juxtaposition of architectural design and photography
has been an ongoing symbiotic process for the past 20 years.
Simultaneously, the love for
travel with his wife Heidi has offered wonderful opportunities for travel and
landscape photography throughout New England as well as the Western USA.
In addition, George has accompanied his wife to many dog shows for both breed
conformation as well as agility competition, providing yet another subject for
photographic involvement. A recent new direction involves the
macro-photography of stones, minerals and crystals, offering limitless material
for evocative images.
George embraced digital
photography in 2003 and the totally integrated digital workflow process from
image capture to final print has certainly offered a new rejuvenated enthusiasm
for creative photography.

Process
The
integrated use of form, context, composition, light, color, and texture are both
consciously as well as subliminally incorporated in his photographs. "As a
form of expression, the photographic process gives one the opportunity to
observe and re-define the natural and man-made environment in unique and
surprising ways. It is a visual means to celebrate reality, explore its
abstractions, and discover worlds within worlds."
Involvement
George Fellner has participated in
numerous juried photo exhibitions and regularly gives photo/presentation
lectures on architecture and the environment. His work has appeared in
travel guides, national journals, newspapers, and business newsletters. As
for his day job, he is president of Fellner Associates Architects (FAA) based in Higganum, CT.
