Bio

George Fellner, a photographer and an architect, is committed to a dual life-path involving visual discovery and design, relating to both the natural and built environments.  Inspired by his travels as well as his in-depth involvement with photo essays, George’s photographic subjects include landscape, architecture, travel, portrait, and objects of nature.  Sharing his wife’s passion for dog agility, he also shoots canine portraits and events.  The focus of his present work: Imaginary Realms reveals an endless search for the abstractions of reality.  His process involves the macro-photography of stones and crystals, as well as playful experimentation with light, glass, and mixed media, offering limitless material for evocative images. George’s photographs have been published in books, journals, magazines, travel guides, and business publications.  In addition, his limited edition prints have been exhibited in art galleries and in private art collections.  His passion for photography was sparked while studying architecture and design.  George received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Florida.  Now, with over 20 years as principal of Fellner Associates Architects, he continues to utilize his design sensitivities for creative photography.

The integrated use of form, context, composition, light, color, and texture are both consciously as well as subliminally incorporated in George’s photographs.  The approach to his photography can be summed up: As a form of expression, the photographic process gives one the opportunity to observe and redefine the natural and man-made environment in unique and surprising ways.  It is a visual means to celebrate reality, explore its abstractions, and discover worlds within worlds.
